Community Ministry Faithful Landlord Report
January 2005
Ronnie and Erika- continue to receive $100 month subsidy. They are both progressing nicely towards their goals. Ronnie enjoys his work as a plumber’s apprentice. He is looking forward to getting his driver’s license, as he will be able to drive the company van and therefore get a salary increase. Erika works full-time as a receptionist and is making progress toward paying down some old debt. While they were temporarily out of budget counseling sessions until they were both working again, they will be resuming the course in February! We will revisit their budget and necessity of receiving the subsidy at that time.
Stephanie- has had a minor set back the past few months and is so grateful to be receiving the subsidy. Stephanie runs her own daycare program, but two kids dropped out, causing a serious loss of income. She had been achieving some sense of financial success, as she was able to put money in a savings account, as well as start an IRA and mutual fund account. She is clearly tucking money aside for the rainy days, a luxury not available to many of our clients. She has been using these savings to help cover her rent and bills until she is able to resume a full daycare. Stephanie has overcome addictions in her life with the help of her faith and has a strong sense of her goals and the will to get there.
Mary Margaret- Mary has successfully found employment with a higher hourly wage and full benefits in a janitorial capacity at the Pentagon. Unfortunately, the security clearance required is taking a longer time than expected. While she has been fully accepted, she still has to wait for all the paperwork before she can begin, which could potentially be another 2 months. Mary continues her volunteer work and pursuing other employment opportunities just in case this does not work out as planned. We will revisit her budget and subsidy when she moves forward into this higher paying position.
Agnes- Since our last update, Agnes’ mother passed away. Her grief combined with trying to get her mother’s estate in order is causing her serious stress. She is facing trials with her sons’ education, but is a persistent advocate for him. Agnes continues working and going to school, and is also working on updating her resume as she is always looking for her next opportunity. She continues to receive her subsidy while she works toward her educational and financial goals.
Calandra- has secured employment in a private school, which will allow her daughter to attend for free. This will give her daughter the special attention she needs for her learning disability. Even with the monthly subsidy, Calandra continues to have some trouble meeting her financial requirements and is pursuing other housing opportunities at this time.
